2008 Rocked bring on 2009

January 5th, 2009 by Briden

Wow, what a year 2008 was! I’ve met so many new friends and attended, played at and helped put on a lot of great events. 2008 saw me play over 25 gigs, and I’m looking forward to more great times with Tribe Productions, Sunset Collaborations, Rainbow Cathedral, Returning Saturn, Anthrowolf Productions, Spacelab, and other great promoters in the area.

Long range plans for 2009 include an entheos preparty in Vancouver, Entheos 3 (summer solstice), Life Psycle 2 (the following week), Earthdance Victoria (September), and at least one more Stereoshift show on the island.

But first, I’m happy to be bringing two of the best DJs BC has to offer to Victoria, Friday January 16th 2009. Stickybuds and Jpod The Beat Chef have been slaying crowds for years at Shambhala as the Stickypod Connection, combining self produced beats with turntablism and on the fly remixing to make your jaw drop and your feet move. I’m really excited for this show, please come check it out:

CYA ON THE DANCEFLOOR

Little Green Men landed!

November 17th, 2008 by Briden

Wow, Little Green Men was awesome!   thanks for having me out Spacelab (and everyone else involved in putting on this killer show) The sets of the night were also recorded, so stay tuned for that set posted right here!

Set of the night goes to Dust for laying down a slick old school prog set on mostly vinyl, full of classics that i haven’t heard in years but knew every beat of from back in the old school glory days of trance.

Such an awesome vibe, it was a lovefest, people were being so free and unihibited, i was getting warm fuzzies all night watching people expand their hearts to the size of the room and beyond. the trance n’ intentional dance scene here is wonderful, i am happy to have found an appreciative crowd for these sounds. BTW, I have lots more great tracks from that era/style to showcase, no bookings currently lined up, available to do some chakra poppin on the island or coast anytime again soon!)

Oh, also, I got a myspace, add me if you use that to keep up!

Little Green Men

November 13th, 2008 by Briden

I’m super excited to be playing at Little Green Men tomorrow night, midnight till 2am.
Expect trancey, progressive beats and awesome people.
Here is the info from the beings at Spacelab.

GREETINGS FROM SPACELAB! Prepare yourself, human. Even as we speak, SpaceLab is orbiting your tiny blue planet, preparing to transport you to another dimension with wave after wave of powerful, transporting beats, soaring, heart-thawing melodies, hallucinatory visuals and love sweet love. The countdown is on.

At 22:00 hr Friday, November 14, 2008, SpaceLab will release “LITTLE GREEN MEN” on a secure (and kick ass!) indoor venue on acres of private property located within 25 minutes of the quaint city-state of Victoria. Precise coordinates will be provided on the 14th, via the SpaceLab email list. To get on the list, send a spacemail to Spacelab@rock.com

As always, we implore you to come of your own volition. When angered, Little Green Men can be very convincing, with the abductions and the heat rays and the probes and the flying saucer armadas … so let’s not disappoint them.

MISSION CONTROL has declared that the theme for this event will be: the additive primary colour evoked by light having a spectrum dominated by energy with a wavelength of roughly 520-570 nm. Also known as: GREEN.

Your share of the costs is $20 in advance from Shift (574 Johnson Street), $25 at the Entrance Portal. All profits from this event will fund SpaceLab’s favourite Little Green Man and Woman, PHILIPPE LUCAS and SONYA CHANDLER, in their campaign for Victoria city council on behalf of the civic Green Party. Philippe is a familiar, friendly face to all late-night dancers, and a tireless champion for progressive change for all humans. To learn more about the campaign, visit: http://www.vicgreens.com/

SPACELAB is honoured to present an interstellar line-up of some of the most exciting and transporting LITTLE GREEN DJs ever born, bred, cloned, mutated or soldered together:

10-12 DESUNOS Rainbow Cathedral :: www.rainbowcathedral.com

Ever since he dumped that suspicious “cargo” in the Kessel Run with an Imperial cruiser breathing down his neck, DESUNOS has been a man on the run. Alien bounty hunters track his every move. He’s wanted dead-or-alive in seven star sectors. But nothing could stop this infamous space pirate from returning to Earth, his smuggler’s compartments packed with his trademark stash of potent, bass-heavy funk mayhem. Both hands on the decks, one eye on the nearest exit, and that inimitable cocky grin — make sure you catch this living legend before he’s encased in solid carbonite …

12-2 B.R.I.D.E.N. Stereoshift Productions :: stereoshift.org

The Entity known as B.R.I.D.E.N. is an awesome, hypnotically throbbing dark star of vastly intelligent antimatter. SpaceLab first encountered B.R.I.D.E.N. on the fringes of the Eagle Nebula, consuming entire galaxies whole — and we instantly recognized the untapped dancefloor potential. Channeled through SpaceLab’s intergalactic sound system, B.R.I.D.E.N. is a merciless force of gorgeous, pounding progressive psychedelia for the mind, body & soul. His now legendary set with SpaceLab at Tikal (circa 800 AD) is widely credited with the spontaneous disappearance of the Mayan Empire at the height of its powers. Those in the front row may experience sudden bouts of interdimensional travel. Pack a toothbrush.

2-4 ENTELECHY Returning Saturn :: returningsaturn.com

ENTELECHY’s rise through the DJ gladiator pits of Phobos to the elite nightclubs of Saturn’s Inner Rings is the stuff of legend. Perpetual underdog and crowd favourite, always outnumbered but never outgunned, he earned his stripes on Phobos punching way above his weight, toppling DJs with bigger billing and several more hands (or tentacles) on the decks. What’s the secret? Sheer grit, samurai-like focus, and his uncanny ability to land a wild sucker-punch or left-right-left combo that leaves a crowd dazed, grinning, and gasping for more. Claim some floor-space and hold on for your life: ENTELECHY is all about tapping down deep into those hidden seeds of transformation and power, and this time around, he means business.

4-6 DUST Sunset Collaborations

DUST materialized from the distant future on a desperate mission to save the dancefloor to save the world. Time is running out. An Elimination Squad of Techno Deathbots has pursued him from the future, programmed for annihilation, relentlessly tracking the homing device bolted to his pounding heart. His only hope, and the only hope for humankind, rests on his foolhardy plan to change the course of human history by unleashing a precision bombing pattern of life-altering basslines and heart-opening melodies on just the right night, on just the right crowd. Embrace your destiny, human. The fate of your world may hang in the balance.

6-8 MOUNTAIN EYES Rainbow Cathedral :: www.rainbowcathedral.com

MOUNTAIN EYES’ origins are shrouded in mystery. Some say he is a warrior shaman from the Celestial Realms. Others say he is a Replicant that inexplicably wept real tears of sadness and joy before hatching a bold escape from the Andromeda work colonies to follow the waking soul in his machinery wherever it leads him. Whatever his past, there is no denying the beautiful intensity and haunting power of his late night/early morning sets. MOUNTAIN EYES is the co-founder and architect of the Rainbow Cathedral, the only monument on Earth visible in all 33 dimensions, aside from the mighty MOUNTAIN EYES himself. When he rises like the dawn at 6 am over a grateful tribe of dancers and dreamers, there is simply nowhere else for you to be. Be here.
