MR.B vs THOM BANKS
———————————————–
MR. B :: DeepDown | Victoria
Known for his uncompromising blend of jazz and funk infused house and breaks, Mr B consistently delivers a smooth selection of organic beats with a chilled vibe. His sets are focused on bringing people together in positive ways through music. A decade of experience that has included weekly residencies in Calgary and Victoria, and appearances at both Shambhala and Soundwave have helped carve out a unique sound that is certainly west coast yet distinctly his own. You can catch him every Saturday with Natron at Victoria’s Whitebird Lounge for their night “Common Ground” or on the web at http://soundcloud.com/mr-bizzle.
THOM BANKS :: ESP, Renegade Sound, Big Head Knights | Victoria
liquidfunk.ca/thombanks | myspace.com/thombanks
Thom Banks has been a staple in the Garden City house and techno scene since 1998. He has earned himself many residencies over the years and has played at some of the best festivals, club nights and parties Victoria and Vancouver has to offer, including numerous Lotus Long Weekends @ the Lotus Sound Lounge in Vancouver, VEMF - Victoria’s annual electronic music festival, and of course, Soundwave, west coast Canada’s fabled 3-day electronic music festival. His tight mixing, unparalleled track selection and keen ability to keep the dancefloor locked down has allowed him to travel all over North America and Asia. Thom has played alongside names such as Mark Farina, Lawnchair Generals, Gene Farris, John Howard, and Dirt Crew, just to name a few.
———————————————–
LYSSA vs SKYLO ::.
———————————————–
LYSSA :: FlyDJs, Stereoshift | Victoria
www.flydjs.com/lyssa.html
Alissa has been a key figure in the success of FlyDJs from its start in October 2005. She was the first FlyDJs “DJ Basix” registered student. Determined to perfect her DJing craft, her learning curve was smooth & fast. Her first appearance as DJ “Lyssa” took place in December 2005. Since then, she has appeared at the Interior’s biggest & most popular events like Solaris Music Festival, Bounce 2, Hidden 2, Grasslands, Habitat, Shine Lounge, & many others. Depending on what mood we catch her in, hot summer daze calls for deep sexy Chicago House with its lush driving basslines and on colder nights, expect that drrrrrrty tech-y noize! She made Victoria her home in spring 2007 & never misses a chance to bust out on the dance floor as she surrounds herself with her favorites: music & dancing.”
SKYLO :: Victoria
Skylo started her dj career on the other side of the decks. A love of dancing and affair with house music became her inspiration to get behind the decks and play the down-home funk house that originally made her fall in love at first beat. Go to one of her shows and you’re guaranteed ass-shaking, original house tracks you won’t hear anywhere else on the West Coast. Always funky & sexy, sometimes dirty … mixing Chicago House, Swing House and tech … Skylo’s still always dancing, but now behind the decks!
———————————————–
NEON STEVE vs GENERIC ::.
———————————————–
NEON STEVE :: Bombstrikes (UK), and Punchout! Recordings | Nanaimo
Neon Steve (a.k.a. Steve Robertson) has been a bright change in the Vancouver Island music scene as of late. His Flashy Clothes, and Funky Style sets him apart from all the stereotypes. The 20 year old DJ/Producer quickly worked his way into the scene, and as of late has found himself playing alongside some of the biggest names in Electronic music. (Boy 8 Bit, Freq Nasty, Fort Knox 5, Will Bailey,The Freestylers, Mat the Alien, and ED209 to name a few) Not bad for a kid who has only been at it for just over 2 years… Oh ya, and one more thing… He’s almost all Vinyl! with the exception of the Odd Digital bootleg and his own productions. Playing everything and anything from 60bpm to 180bpm Neon Steve has got what it takes to make a dancefloor boogie. Did I mention he won the 2010 Hush DJ Competition?? Prepare yourself to get blasted.
GENERIC :: Pacific Dubstep | Victoria
Generic aka Cole Magnusson, is 23 years young and is based in Victoria, B.C. Coles been mixing and scratching for 8 years now, he spins a variety of breaks, dnb, dub-step, and tech-funk, as well as produces his own. Oh yeah, and he won the Hush breakbeat DJ competition last year, played mainstage VEMF, and pretty much slays every dancing audience he finds himself in front of. Get ready to get down.
———————————————–
BRIDEN vs SHELLB ::.
———————————————–
BRIDEN :: Stereoshift | Vancouver
stereoshift.org | briden.org
Briden has been on the decks for about 10 years now, playing clubs, raves, underground venues, and outdoor events. Over the last 7 years, he’s fostered the Stereoshift Collective and collaborated to produce a host of exciting events, bringing the best of BCs talent to the decks. The last 2 years on Vancouver island have seen Briden play over 50 shows and take crowds by storm to become a local underground favorite.
SHELLB :: Stereoshift | Vancouver
stereoshift.org
ShellB presides over the decks like a princess over her court of beloved minions, tossing heavy beats down on the ones and twos. As a longtime DJ of Stereoshift Entertainment, she’s known to play breaks, electro, funk, tech house, progressive and many other styles - melded beautifully together and looking hot doing it! Everyone knows that good things come in small packages and ShellB is no exception, though her beats are much bigger than her feets! You can be sure when she puts her feminine touch on the west coast sound of dirty bass you’ll be disinclined to leave the dance floor anytime soon.

2008 Rocked bring on 2009
Wow, what a year 2008 was! I’ve met so many new friends and attended, played at and helped put on a lot of great events. 2008 saw me play over 25 gigs, and I’m looking forward to more great times with Tribe Productions, Sunset Collaborations, Rainbow Cathedral, Returning Saturn, Anthrowolf Productions, Spacelab, and other great promoters in the area.
Long range plans for 2009 include an entheos preparty in Vancouver, Entheos 3 (summer solstice), Life Psycle 2 (the following week), Earthdance Victoria (September), and at least one more Stereoshift show on the island.
But first, I’m happy to be bringing two of the best DJs BC has to offer to Victoria, Friday January 16th 2009. Stickybuds and Jpod The Beat Chef have been slaying crowds for years at Shambhala as the Stickypod Connection, combining self produced beats with turntablism and on the fly remixing to make your jaw drop and your feet move. I’m really excited for this show, please come check it out:

Tix: $15 early bird, $20 advance and online, $25 @ the gate

CYA ON THE DANCEFLOOR

Little Green Men landed!
Wow, Little Green Men was awesome! thanks for having me out Spacelab (and everyone else involved in putting on this killer show) The sets of the night were also recorded, so stay tuned for that set posted right here!
Set of the night goes to Dust for laying down a slick old school prog set on mostly vinyl, full of classics that i haven’t heard in years but knew every beat of from back in the old school glory days of trance.
Such an awesome vibe, it was a lovefest, people were being so free and unihibited, i was getting warm fuzzies all night watching people expand their hearts to the size of the room and beyond. the trance n’ intentional dance scene here is wonderful, i am happy to have found an appreciative crowd for these sounds. BTW, I have lots more great tracks from that era/style to showcase, no bookings currently lined up, available to do some chakra poppin on the island or coast anytime again soon!)
Oh, also, I got a myspace, add me if you use that to keep up!
